Scholarship Matching Program

This is our signature program. The PHFAMOESCEF partners with outside organizations to provide matching scholarships to D.C. residents. Our membership organizations can also partner with other D.C. based organizations by having donors make scholarship donations to the Foundation. The Foundation will donate funds on behalf of the membership organization. The D.C. organizations must already have active scholarship programs and provide scholarships to D.C. residents.

This year, the PHFAMOESCEF decided to partner with College Bound Inc. College Bound Inc.’s mission is to prepare public and public charter school students in the metropolitan D.C. area to enter college, earn a degree, and achieve their personal and professional goals. By partnering with College Bound Inc., the Foundation was able to achieve our goal of partnering with the Grob Family Scholarship Foundation, an organization that has been providing scholarships through College Bound Inc. for over 10 years. The program was held on May 17, 2023 at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Performing Arts Center.

The program theme was “Continue” which encouraged the students to continue to achieve their goals no matter what may come before them. Executive Director Kenneth Ward provided opening remarks and Zion Kelley, a former College Bound Mentoring Program Alumni who graduated from Florida A& M University, was the guest speaker. Scholarship Awards were presented to students who demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in the mentoring program.

The PHFAMOESCEF and the Grob Family Scholarship Foundation partnered to give three (3) $10,000 scholarships to seniors graduating from a public high school in Washington, DC.

Give Back DC Program

This program is our way of supporting charitable activities in the Masonic Temple. Our membership organizations who are conducting a charitable activity (non-fundraising) can use the Prince Hall Center for the Performing Arts at no cost. The organization or individuals receiving the act of charity must operate in D.C. or be D.C. residents. This program can also be extended to other organizations that require a venue to perform charitable activities for District of Columbia residents.

Education Impact Program

This program helps the PHFAMOESCEF contribute to the success of D.C. residents through education. Our membership organizations can solicit monetary donations from donors which will be sent directly to the Foundation. The Foundation will issue a donation letter to the donors thanking them for their support of our charitable activities. All donations received will be restricted for the expressed purpose. Any organization or person receiving the charitable distribution must operate or reside in D.C. and be involved in activities related to education.

Community Outreach Program

This program is designed to assist the membership organizations to receive tangible (non-monetary) donations from organizations who wish to donate items in support of charitable activities. The PHFAMOESCEF Director of Community Relations will coordinate with the member organization and donating organization to schedule delivery/pickup of items. It will be the responsibility of the membership organization to ensure donated items are delivered for charitable purposes to D.C. residents.
